Once again the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce will be offering the Rollie Denison Leadership InstituteTM (RDLI) this fall to area professionals in Isabella County. RDLI has enjoyed twenty-one years of strong community volunteers and Chamber leadership. Its mission is to “identify and develop effective community leaders who will help create a spirit of cooperation for the resolution of community challenges.”

During recent Vision 20/20 planning, the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber leadership program was recognized as a priority program to insure the community continues to grow a strong pool of leaders. The Chamber answered this call and the class of 2008/2009 enjoyed a program that embraced the five foundational concepts of Vision 20/20: Education, Economic Development, Intergovernmental Relations, Leadership Development and Quality of Life.

As a result of this partnership with Vision 20/20, the Chamber will take RDLI to the next level by continuing the program with professional facilitation. Last program year, Lynne Scheible of Scheible Seminars, created a new, updated, highly engaging, interactive and creative curriculum for developing community leadership within the RDLI program. While Lynne cannot be with us this year, this tradition will continue with a new Program Coordinator and graduate of this class.

We are proud to announce that Mr. Scott Gillespie will
serve as the new facilitator and Program Coordinator for the
2010/11 class of the Rollie Denison Leadership Institute
TM.
Scott is a graduate of last year’s class, and holds a
Bachelor of Science degree as a 1994 graduate of CMU.
He has held several community leadership positions
including Director of Admissions for Davenport University
and creating his own business consulting practice. As an
alumnus of the first professionally facilitated class, Scott
was instrumental in garnering community support and
financial resources for the initial launching the RDLI
Leadership Enhancement Fund
with the Mt. Pleasant
Area Community Foundation. He also was the creator of
the monthly, post-RDLI meetings for class members to stay in touch called, “JavaShip.” Scott brings a wealth of business, program management, facilitation and volunteer experience to the 2010 RDLI Class.

The cost of the program again this year will be $600 and will cover tuition for a full day each month for nine months, food costs, professional facilitation, orientation packets, supplies, materials and graduation expenses. A two hour orientation session will start Friday, August 20th. This will be followed by a kick-off dinner with program alumni on Thursday, September 16th, followed by the first full day session on Friday, September 17th. Program sessions are scheduled for the third Friday of every month through May 2011 and will require a full commitment for every session from program participants and their employers.

All of us have the potential for remarkable achievement and RDLI will offer this opportunity once again. The Chamber invites you to join us in this extraordinary leadership experience and become a part of this learning community. Class size is limited to 24 participants and is a first come first serve basis. If you are interested, please e-mail us at RDLI @ mt-pleasant.net and you will be directed to an on-line application. All applications must be received no later than July 20, 2010.
