The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is comprised of the
Swan Creek, Black River and Saginaw bands of Indians. The
Tribe was federal recognized in 1937 by the US Government.
The Isabella Reservation sets about five miles east of the
City of Mt. Pleasant. Total membership for the Tribe is about
3200 and is comprised of three districts. The government is
made up of twelve elected individuals every two years.
Positions consist of Tribal Chief, Sub Chief, Treasurer,
Secretary, Sgt. at Arms, Chaplain, At-Large and Saganing.
